April 2009 IN Progress
I am presently working on a model that was a
battery operated toy. Some modifications are needed to make it look like a day
cab Sterling. It sits on an Italeri Freightliner FLD 120 chassis, using Plaskit
resin 6 spoke wheels (I really like the Italeri plastic tire/6 spoke resin wheel
combination) and hand made real aluminum fenders. Claude

This started as a 378 and I added about 3 inches to
the frame, then added the sleeper from the 377 kit, then scratch built a 379
style hood that is a bit longer than most, but it looks cool, just a work in
progress. Hope you like it. Jim Brown
Here are a few pics of the very first truck model I
ever built, back in July 1991, which is being restored. It has been slightly
modified with a shortened frame, shortened bumper, AITM 2 hole Budd wheels, and
a 2 tone paint job. The blue is Testors dark blue, which was the tractor's
original color. The trailer is an AMT Fruehauf tanker modified with front
fenders. It's almost finished. Ray DeJesus
1st - Shaffer Astro, picture ref from hank's truck
pictures. The frame was shortened a bit and I installed the GMC general air ride
suspension on it. I used taillights to create the top cab lights they are
painted flat aluminum. I used vinyl for striping..unfortunately I did not have
yellow unit numbers..so I used white. 2nd - will be a "union
Carbide" Mack cruise liner, this will be for me a "chrome" truck. mags bumper
twin stack, with the metallic green frame it will look good. I usually like
basic trucks no chrome all work. The center post was broken but I'll replace it
later. I replaced the camelback suspension to a Hendrickson springs set up from
the parts box. Gilles Gauthier
