May 2009 In Progress

A little more done on my Pete, I used the model masters window tint on the side windows, it worked pretty good, finished the interior, stretched the frame, plumbed the air brakes and the air bags on the rear of the truck.  I used color matched lines, I looked at a 1:1 truck at 4-state trucks in Joplin, MO. that was done this way and I liked the way it looked so I thought I would try it.  Used photo etched pete badges on it, painted them with stoplight red, sanded the top off so the script would show, then coated it with the fake water for model railroads, worked really well, gave them the raised look like a real emblem.      Jim Brown

This is a Peterbilt 359 Conventional, I took all the doors out and am going to give the suicide doors a try.  Takes a while to get the doors out.  Took the steps off the cab, filled all the wholes on the roof and sides, shaved the door handles off and filled them, and filed all the rivets off.  Dawn Brown

379 long hood long logger, frame stretched 1 1/4 inches and tail frame added and also picture of a working compensator on a miller log trailer.     Brad Jones

Here are some photos of my current project. It is a rebuild of a model I built in 1971/1972 of a IMC Dodge L700 converted into a tandem axle truck. I am rebuilding the model with new parts (from the Lindberg reissue) as the original model was not very good. Paint was bed, the tandem axle set was made with two IMC single axles and scrap plastick, plus the cab took a dive to the floor and shattered. Over 90% of the parts are new. Photos 1 & 2 shows the original model disassembled. The rest of the photos show the build of the model into a water wagon. The new frame is made with plastic, I-beams with the outside flanges cut off. I used the tandem axle set from the AMT Snow Plow kit. The front steering was rebuilt from brass, the only plastic is the axle and brake drums. I made a steering box and raised the frame over the front axle. I added an aux., transmission from the original build. I made the front water pump from 3 air cleaners and scraps of plastic. The tank body is made from an old IMC model.     Chuck Paterka
